Contracting Agent:
Yates Tishman
Project Location: Borgata
Atlantic City, NJ
Project Highlights: Atlantic Concrete Cutting was contracted to saw 29” x 15” x 19” openings in the elevator shafts of the new Borgata building to allow for the installation of fire vents. Space restrictions prevented the use of a tracked saw and the concrete thickness prevented the use of a hand saw. Atlantic overcame this by stitch drilling, which is core drilling several overlapping holes around the perimeter. Also, water, slurry, and falling cores had to be controlled because work was being done below the cutting area. This was accomplished by the use of an ingenious contraption (highlighted in yellow in the last picture) that was put together by one of our operators using materials available on the job site.
