Project Highlights: Atlantic Concrete Cutting was contracted to saw and remove a six foot diameter hole in the floor of a private residence to allow for the installation of a spiral staircase to join the top apartment to the bottom apartment. The floor was a 9" thick suspended concrete slab. Atlantic used a specially designed circular wire saw to cut the hole. a gantry system had to be installed to support the piece as it was being cut, and to lower the piece down to the floor below. After being lowered, the piece had to be sawed into smaller, more manageable pieces to remove it from the premises. Because this was an occupied building, noise and mess had to be kept to a minimum.
